Stacer sulle nostre release

Il 15 Aprile del 2020 risorgeva dalle ceneri il progetto made in Italy, voluto dal suo patron, Julian Del Vecchio, e dall'azienda che dirige, SIITE SRLS, con base nel lodigiano.

Insieme ad altri due volontari, Riccardo Leguti ed Adriano Morselli, si è partiti da una versione poco curata per arrivare oggi, ad avere svariate release curate, stabili, flessibili, aggiornate e complete anche di un repository aggiuntivo per i driver delle varie stampanti.

I passi fatti, grazie anche al supporto di altri volontari che hanno affiancato lo staff per un breve periodo, hanno dimostrato il vero potenziale del progetto che continua a portare avanti versioni sia a 32 che 64bit.

Pensiamo che con qualsiasi hardware si ha si può lavorare bene, se si installa una delle nostre release, tanto che molti nostri utenti gradiscono anche le versioni a 32bit, cercando di riciclare ed ottimizzare l'hardware a propria disposizione.

Vogliamo ringraziare i nostri utenti che continuano ad utilizzare ed apprezzare i nostri sistemi e dedicare loro il video postato di seguito.

PCLinuxOS, la distro base su cui è stata creata la nostra release Lorena, sta migrando dal gestore pacchetti Apt for rpm a Dnf, ragione per cui abbiamo creato dei nuovi mirror per offrirvi aggiornamenti del nostro sistema rolling.

Cosa comporta tale modifica? Il passaggio da mirror http a quelli http(s) ed un nuovo sistema di gestione ed installazione dei pacchetti rpm.

Quali operazioni deve fare chi utilizza la release Lorena? La procedura è breve ed abbastanza semplice ed è disponibile sulla nostra wiki.

Qual'è la data ultima per effettuare queste operazioni? Per un periodo di circa un mese, fino al giorno 9 Febbraio compreso, chi già utilizza Lorena può seguire questi passaggi in modo semplice. Dopo tale data sarà possibile invece reinstallare il sistema dalla nuova immagine di sistema che stiamo per creare.

Difatti, il giorno 10 Febbraio 2026 dismetteremo gli attuali e vecchi mirror per tenere attivi solo i nuovi, considerato che vogliamo ottimizzare le risorse.

Gli utilizzatori della versione 10 Basic (32/64 bit) sanno che entro pochi giorni terminerà il supporto al loro sistema seppur gli aggiornamenti di sicurezza sono garantiti fino a Dicembre 2025.

Proprio a tal proposito, stiamo lavorando alla release 10 Plus ma chi usa già la versione 10 Basic può effettuare l'upgrade alla 10 Plus, sempre dopo aver effettuato una copia di backup dei dati personali.

Users of the 10 Basic version (32/64 bit) know that within a few days the support for their system will end even though security updates are guaranteed until December 2025.
